Users are logins on a server. Each user has a home folder that they can’t leave, so users on the same server never see each other’s files.
Login methods
| Method | How it works |
|---|---|
| Password | We generate a 20-character password, shown once. |
| SSH key | The user logs in with one of their public keys. Passwords are refused. |
| Password + SSH key | Either credential works. |
To rotate a password, open the user’s menu and choose Reset password. The old password stops working immediately.
SSH keys
Paste OpenSSH public keys, one per line. Supported types are ssh-ed25519, ssh-rsa, ecdsa-sha2-nistp256/384/521 and [email protected].
ssh-ed25519 AAAAC3NzaC1lZDI1NTE5AAAAIJXt… alice@laptop
Permissions
| Permission | Allows |
|---|---|
| List | Browsing folders |
| Download | Reading files |
| Upload | Creating new files |
| Overwrite | Replacing existing files |
| Delete | Removing files and folders |
| Rename | Renaming and moving |
| Create folders | Making new folders |
Presets cover the common cases: Full access, Read only (list and download) and Upload only (list, upload and create folders). Upload-only is a good fit for partners who drop files for you.
Quotas
Each user has a storage quota. The sum of all quotas can’t exceed your plan’s storage. When a user reaches their quota, further uploads are rejected until files are deleted or the quota is raised.
Disabling and deleting
Disable a user to block logins while keeping their files and settings. Delete removes the login. Their files remain in storage until the server is deleted.
