Bring your own bucketSFTP to Scaleway Object Storage, with EU-only regions
Scaleway is a European provider whose Object Storage runs only in EU regions. CloudFile adds an SFTP, FTPS and FTP server in front of a Scaleway bucket, written with an IAM application key limited to one project.

Scaleway prices are from their public website as of October 2026, excluding taxes. Your bucket is billed by Scaleway, not by us, and doesn't count toward your plan's storage.

Both the bucket and the SFTP server stay in the EU, run by European companies.
No request fees
Requests are included in the price, so an SFTP client listing folders all day doesn't create a request bill.
Warsaw and Milan
Regions in Central and Southern Europe, useful when contracts or latency call for a bucket in Poland or Italy.
Fine-grained IAM
Separate permission sets for reading, writing and deleting objects, granted to an application rather than a person.
How it works, in three steps.

Create a bucket and an IAM application
Use a dedicated project. Create a private bucket, an IAM application, and a policy with the three ObjectStorageObjects permission sets on that project.

Connect it in CloudFile
Storage → Add bucket → Scaleway. Pick the region and paste the API key, with the bucket's project as its preferred project.

Uploads go to Scaleway
Each user writes under its own prefix, and a webhook or email reports every upload.

Their own home folder as /, and nothing else. They never see the bucket name, other users' folders or your keys.
A password, an SSH key or both, with the permissions you pick: full access, read only or upload only.
Shared folders at /shared/<name> when several users need the same files. They live under _shared/<name>/ in your Scaleway bucket.

IAM rules cover every bucket in a project, not one bucket. Keep CloudFile's buckets in their own project.
The API key's preferred project must be the bucket's project, or the test fails with NoSuchBucket.
Once a bucket has a bucket policy, every principal must be allowed in it explicitly, including CloudFile's application.
Questions about SFTP on Scaleway.
Can I keep files in Poland?
Yes. Create the bucket in pl-waw (Warsaw). CloudFile's SFTP servers run in Germany; files are written straight into your bucket.
Why does the test say NoSuchBucket?
Usually the API key's preferred project isn't the bucket's project, or the region doesn't match. Edit the key's preferred project; changes can take a few minutes.
Can I scope the key to one bucket?
Not with IAM alone: rules apply to all buckets in a project. Use a dedicated project for CloudFile's buckets.
Does Scaleway charge for egress?
The first 75 GB a month is free, then egress is billed per GB. Check Scaleway's pricing page for the current rate.
