IDrive e2 has regions across the US, Canada, Europe and Asia.
Before you start
- An IDrive e2 account.
- A region enabled for it. On the Dashboard, pick one from the Regions list and choose Enable. The enabled region’s endpoint is listed under Enabled regions.
1. Create the bucket
- Go to the Buckets tab and choose Create Bucket.
- Pick the region and enter a name.
- Leave Object Locking and Versioning off. Object locking stops SFTP users from deleting or replacing files, and versioning keeps deleted files around.
- Choose Create Bucket.
2. Create an access key
- Go to the Access Keys tab and choose Create Access Key.
- Name it, for example
cloudfile, and pick the bucket’s region. - Set the permission to Read and write, allow deleting objects, and don’t allow deleting buckets.
- Select only your bucket.
- Choose Create Access Key and copy the Access Key ID and Secret Access Key.
A key’s permissions can’t be changed after it’s created. To change them, delete the key and create a new one.
3. Connect it
In CloudFile, go to Storage → Add bucket and choose IDrive e2:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Bucket | Your bucket name |
| Region | The bucket’s region code, e.g. eu-central-2 (Frankfurt) or us-east-1 (Virginia) |
| Endpoint | https://s3.<region>.idrivee2.com (filled in from the region) |
| Access key ID | The Access Key ID from step 2 |
| Secret access key | The Secret Access Key from step 2 |
| Name | Optional, e.g. Production |
| Path-style URLs | On |
If the Enabled regions list on your Dashboard shows a different endpoint for your region, paste that one into Endpoint with https:// in front.
Click Test connection, then Save. To use the bucket, open a server and pick it under Settings → Storage.
Troubleshooting
- Writing a test file failed with a
NoSuchBucketor invalid access key error. The endpoint is for a different region than the bucket and key. Use the endpoint for the bucket’s region from Enabled regions. - Writing a test file failed: Access Denied. The key is Read only or doesn’t include this bucket. Create a new key.
- Deleting the test file failed. The key doesn’t allow deleting objects, or object locking is on for the bucket.
See Your own bucket for how files are laid out in the bucket.
