A DocEvent.io alternative without transfer caps
DocEvent.io puts SFTP, FTPS and FTP in front of your own bucket, priced per user with a small monthly transfer allowance. CloudFile has a flat price per plan, doesn't meter transfers, and can store the files for you or in your bucket.

Why teams switch from DocEvent.io.
Transfers aren't metered
DocEvent.io's paid plans include 1 or 3 GB of transfer a month. CloudFile doesn't count uploads and downloads, within fair use.
A flat price per plan
Starter is €19 for 10 SFTP users. Pro and Business have no user limit, so adding a partner doesn't change the bill.
Storage included, or your bucket
Every plan comes with storage (10 GB / 250 GB / 1 TB), so you can start without a cloud account. Or connect any S3-compatible bucket or Azure Blob Storage.
Signed webhooks on every upload
Each upload, rename or delete can POST a JSON event with an HMAC signature and a presigned download link, with retries and a delivery log.
Share links and file requests
Send a download link or a browser upload page to people without an SFTP account, with an expiry date and an optional password.
All of it in Germany
Servers, files and the dashboard database run in Germany, on Hetzner.
When DocEvent.io is the better choice.
You want a free plan for up to 5 users and very little traffic.
You need servers in the US or Australia, or want to self-host it in your own VPC.
You need AS2, or want to route files on to SharePoint, email or on-premise folders with Channels.
You want IP allow and deny lists or SCP on the cheapest plan.
Questions about switching from DocEvent.io.
Is data transfer limited on CloudFile?
No. Transfers are not metered on any plan, within fair use. If you use your own bucket, your storage provider may charge for egress.
Can I use my own S3 or Azure bucket, like with DocEvent.io?
Yes, on every plan. Any S3-compatible bucket and Azure Blob Storage work, and storage in your bucket doesn't count towards your plan. Each SFTP user gets their own folder.
Do I have to bring a bucket?
No. Every plan includes storage in Germany (10 GB / 250 GB / 1 TB), and you can add more for €20 per TB a month.
Where is CloudFile hosted?
On Hetzner in Germany. Servers, the dashboard and the default storage are all in the EU.

How CloudFile compares with other options.
vs
sftpcloud alternative
sftpcloud and CloudFile both give you hosted SFTP and FTP servers with your own storage behind them. CloudFile starts cheaper, doesn't cap SFTP users above Starter, and lets you automate everything over a REST API.
Comparevs
AWS Transfer Family alternative
AWS Transfer Family is solid, but an SFTP endpoint costs $0.30 an hour for each enabled protocol, around $216 a month before any data moves. CloudFile gives you SFTP, FTPS and FTP for a flat monthly price, and can still write straight into your S3 bucket.
Comparevs

Couchdrop alternative
Couchdrop connects SFTP to SharePoint, Google Drive and many other systems, with prices on request above its first plan. CloudFile does one thing: SFTP, FTPS and FTP servers on S3-compatible storage, with every price on the website and no transfer metering.
Comparevs
Files.com alternative
Files.com is a large managed file transfer platform with AS2, dozens of integrations and enterprise compliance, from $199 a month. CloudFile is the simpler option: SFTP, FTPS, FTP and WebDAV servers on included storage or your own bucket, with flat prices and hosting in Germany.
