How it works, in four steps.

  1. 1

    Pass the check

Click Create. A Cloudflare check keeps bots out. There's no form and no account.

  2. 2

    Connect

You get a host, ports, a username and a random password, with sftp, lftp and curl commands to copy.

  3. 3

    Upload and watch

Every upload, download, rename and delete shows up live, with the JSON a webhook would receive.

  4. 4

    It disappears

After an hour, or when you click Delete now, the server and all its files are deleted.

The limits, so it stays free.

  • One hour

The server is deleted with its files when the timer runs out. You can delete it earlier.

  • 1 GB, 1000 files

One user with a 1 GB quota. Uploads beyond it are refused. Two servers per visitor per day, a few at once for everyone.

  • Files are never published

Nothing you upload is served over HTTP or executed. Files are reachable only with the server's credentials, and only for the hour.

  • Live events

See each file event with the protocol, IP, size and the exact webhook payload. Real servers also add a signed download link.

Questions about test servers.

Is it really free?

Yes. A test server costs nothing and needs no account or card. It runs for one hour with 1 GB of storage. If you need a server that stays, a 7-day trial gets you one with your own users, webhooks and storage, also without a card.

What is a test SFTP server good for?

Checking that a client, script or integration can connect, authenticate and upload before you point it at a production server. For example a cron job using sftp or curl, an ETL tool, a partner's upload instructions, or webhook handling: you see the exact event payload each upload produces.

Which protocols does the test server support?

All three on one host: SFTP on its own port, and FTP with optional explicit TLS (FTPS, AUTH TLS) on another, with passive mode. Plain FTP is there for testing old clients and devices. It sends the password unencrypted, so use SFTP or FTPS for anything that matters.

What are the limits?

1 GB of storage and 1000 files, one user with a password, one hour. Each visitor can create two test servers per day, and only a few run at the same time for everyone, so the button may ask you to try again in a few minutes.

Can I keep the files or the server longer?

No. After an hour the server and its files are deleted for good, and so is the event log on the page. For a permanent server with the same features, start a 7-day trial. It takes about a minute.

Is it safe to upload my files?

Treat it as a public test box: use test data only. The connection is encrypted over SFTP and FTPS, files are stored privately and never shared by link, and everything is deleted after the hour. But anyone who sees the credentials on your screen can log in until then.

What gets logged?

The IP address that created the server, and each file event (time, path, size, protocol, client IP), kept for 30 days to deal with abuse. Uploading illegal content or using the server to distribute files is forbidden. We delete such servers and report abuse.
