Why teams switch from SFTP To Go.

  • From €19 a month

Starter is €19 with 10 SFTP users, Pro €59 with 5 servers and unlimited users. SFTP To Go starts at $150.

  • Files go into your bucket

Point a server at Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, Wasabi, Hetzner or any other S3-compatible bucket, or Azure Blob Storage. Partner uploads land there directly, and your provider bills you for storage.

  • Transfers aren't metered

No monthly bandwidth allowance to watch. A big partner upload or a busy month doesn't push you to the next plan, within fair use.

  • Plain FTP when you need it

Old scanners, cameras and ERPs that only speak FTP can still connect, next to SFTP, FTPS and WebDAV on the same server.

  • No credential ceiling

From Pro up, create as many SFTP logins as you have partners or devices. You don't move up a plan at 20 or 50 users.

  • Hosted in Germany

Servers, the default storage and the dashboard database run in Germany, on Hetzner, with a GDPR data processing agreement on every paid plan.

When SFTP To Go is the better choice.

  • You need SOC 2 reports, a HIPAA BAA, or other compliance paperwork your auditors ask for.

  • You want built-in automations that move, copy or PGP-encrypt files after upload, or a branded web portal for partners.

  • Your servers have to run in the US or in a specific AWS region, or connect to your VPC with peering.

  • Users must sign in with SSO, or you want S3 API access to the same files.

Questions about switching from SFTP To Go.

How much does SFTP To Go cost compared with CloudFile?

SFTP To Go lists Launch at $150 a month and Scale at $325 a month, with storage and bandwidth allowances. CloudFile is €19 / €59 / €179 a month (Starter / Pro / Business), excl. VAT, with transfers not metered, and yearly billing gives two months free.

Can I use my own S3 bucket instead of hosted storage?

Yes, on every plan. Connect any S3-compatible bucket, such as Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, Wasabi or Hetzner, or Azure Blob Storage. Each SFTP user gets their own folder in it, and storage there doesn't count towards your plan.

Are CloudFile webhooks signed like SFTP To Go's?

Yes. Every delivery carries an X-CloudFile-Signature header with an HMAC-SHA256 signature and a timestamp, so you can check it came from us and reject replays. It also includes a presigned link to download the file, and failed deliveries are retried.

How do I move from SFTP To Go?

Create the same usernames and SSH keys in CloudFile, then copy the files across with rclone or sftp. With your own domain on Pro or Business, partners keep their hostname, and they may need to accept a new host key once.

Help me move file transfers from my current SFTP server or AWS Transfer Family to CloudFile.

CloudFile (https://cloudfile.dev) runs managed SFTP, FTPS and FTP servers. Read https://cloudfile.dev/llms.txt, https://cloudfile.dev/docs/users.md, https://cloudfile.dev/docs/connecting.md and https://cloudfile.dev/docs/api.md first. The OpenAPI 3.1 spec is at https://cloudfile.dev/api/v1/openapi.json.

Start by asking me what I'm moving from and where the user list and public keys live (sshd config, a Transfer Family server, Terraform, a CSV). Don't connect to or change anything until I've confirmed the plan.

Then:
1. Write a script that reads the existing users and creates the same usernames on a CloudFile server with POST /api/v1/instances/{id}/users, with the same public keys and matching permissions. Use the CLOUDFILE_API_KEY and CLOUDFILE_SERVER_ID environment variables, and make it safe to run twice.
2. For copying files, have me create one extra CloudFile user with folder access set to "All users' folders". It sees one folder per user, so rclone can copy each old home directory into /<username>/ over SFTP. Start with a dry run.
3. List what partners have to change: host name, port, and accepting a new host key once. Mention that Pro and Business include a dedicated IP with ports 22 and 21 and a custom domain, so partners can keep their hostname.
4. Finish with a cut-over checklist and a rollback plan.
